Company profile: practice which  focuses on individualized solution strategies that bridge common and costly gaps associated with 1)  process and technology-dependent business goals, 2) critical pre-launch milestones of technology-based startup, 3) mainstream transformation of business-driven technical infrastructure in established organizations and 4) technology commercialization.

Ø      BlueBolt Networks                           
Startup Assistance for eBusiness Initiative.  Served as a key communication link between the visionary (company founder and leadership team) and technology providers (Keane, Graphic Detail, IFS, Sherril McLeod Consulting, MicroSoft Great Plains), initiating an important adjustment to the technical implementation strategy, setting roll-out strategy for critical pre-launch deliverables, developing business requirements, and facilitating process/infrastructure components.
eCatalog Management Strategies.  Led first generation implementation  to prepare online catalog for company launch and beyond. Involved defining processes, tool deployment, and training staff.  Conducted comprehensive business requirement analysis and market research developing request for information (RFI) and quantitative framework for multi-vendor comparative analysis, to serve as the basis for second generation solution.  

Ø      Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC          
  Document Automation Business Process and Technology Transformation.  Led the initiative to gather business requirements, define solution strategy, select/manage vendor tools and orchestrate end-to-end mixed platform implementation including the development of new processes,  roles and responsibilities – and integration with third-party document management and archival system (Mobius). The roles of AH Consulting were tightly integrated with client's operation to coordinate and unify efforts among client's cross-departmental staff, management, tool/design vendors (Document Sciences, Strategic Solutions) and outsourced print/mail vendor (Active Data Services / Lason). 
General Advisor to Business Application Development Management.  Sat in on VP’s staff meetings,  developed and delivered Creative Solutioning presentation; made recommendations to improve productivity, coordination, and communication on technology-based business initiatives between business units and technology counterparts.
  Benefit Validation and Communication Assessment.  Led cross-functional work group to understand the issues and develop short-term and longer-term solution strategies and business requirements to improve the quality of information and channels of communications within BCBSNC and with customers.
Benefit Definition Document Management System Transformation.  Defined strategy and led initiative to move a mainframe-based solution to an internal Intranet/WORD solution. Defined and coordinated efforts of IBM and internal staff (including AH Consulting) to convert a significant amount of data; developed an equivalent document management interface to emulate document keyword indexing for subsequent search and retrieval.
  Provider Directory Business Process Technology Assessment.  Reviewed a jointly owned production process, made recommendation for improvements along with a solution strategy for delivering electronic versions viewable by Adobe Acrobat.

Ø      Relativity Technologies                    
Assisted in the start up phase of this commercial software company to identify and introduce local early adopter candidates to the company and its technology offering.   Pursued and attracted Keane and the State of NC.

Ø      AIS                                                     
Continued work with AIS in the area of strategic account management (e.g. EDS/PLM, Siemens Energy and Automation, ABB Systems Controls) and business development initiatives; develop and deliver corporate presentations; coordinate and staff trade show events.

Company profile: small commercial software company with Fortune 2000 client base

 

Worked closely with the owner and strategic relationships to manage day-to-day operation of the company and to spearhead business development initiatives around programmable spreadsheet technology named XESS.  Developed user-driven solution strategy and led initiatives that resulted in strategic Reseller and OEM relationships in the CAD/CAM industry.  Represented company at trade shows; AIS awarded UNIX/NT integration award by Windows Magazine at UNIX Expo in 1996.  Managed and worked closely with all aspects of software commercialization: product management, design, development, testing, bug and enhancement tracking, packaging, distribution, and customer service – in a multi-platform environment: UNIX, Digital, and Windows.    (Employment opportunity initiated by AIS.)

Release Manager, Product Manager, Client Services Manager

 

Company profile: joint venture of IBM and First Boston for a  commercial software company

 

First NC hire for Seer in conjunction with corporate relocation to Cary from NYC.  Prior to the move, served as local  manager for a boot camp for new hires held in Cary.  Commuted to NYC for approximately 2 months to prepare and help facilitate the move for the Client Services organization.  In Cary, served as interim client service manager leading initiatives to improve processes and customer satisfaction.  In role of Product Manager for Seer Mediator, led initiative to define and package a complete product offering including working with prospective customers to integrate feedback.  In role of Release Manager for SeerHPS, reporting to CTO led initiative and worked closely with QA, Development, Technical Writers, and Packaging to coordinate a major release with the directive to stabilize the software and improve customer satisfaction; stated release was subsequently described as the “first quality release” to be delivered by Seer.

Company profile: one of the world’s largest conglomerates of software and professional service acquisitions coupled with internal product development initiatives.

 

At the time of  CA’s acquisition of Mega Group (and companion company ISSCO), employment opportunity was initiated by CA as a result of unsolicited recommendation from Mega Group principals during acquisition-related layoff period for both acquired companies. (At the time was working as a Consultant continuing to assist Mega Group as needed.)  Served initially as a resource and knowledge base for the spreadsheet product (MegaCalc which was renamed to CA-SuperCalc.) working with QA, Development, Support, internal CA application initiatives, and customer applications. Received letter of commendation from customer that was added to the CA “Wall of Fame” and also received a handwritten note from CA’s CFO expressing his gratitude and pleasant surprise at the successful internal implementation, attributing its success directly to my involvement.  Was subsequently promoted to roles of software and site management in San Diego (~125 employees and several software products) and then Malvern, PA.  Managed complex corporate environment and circumstances – and bi-coastal logistics;  participated in monthly management meetings with the CEO.

Company profile: small, post startup commercial software company with Fortune 2000 client base

 

Paid relocation from NC to lead initiatives to stabilize software releases, frequencies, and develop Customer Support department, procedures, interfaces, staffing, and training; directed and performed QA testing for a mainframe-based spreadsheet product named MegaCalc;  involved defining procedures, infrastructure, providing customer feedback to the development group, and training support personnel. Received letters from customers acknowledging significant improvement; subsequently asked to lead and coordinate QA initiatives and to conduct training seminars at customer site.  (Recommended by SIMPLAN customer who was also Mega Group customer.)

Company profile: small, post startup commercial software company with Fortune 500 client base

 

Initially programmed bug fixes and enhancements for SIMPLAN, a financial modeling package.  Subsequently served as Project Manager for a major software upgrade and assumed more management responsibility – ultimately responsible for all technical activity associated with the software: development, maintenance, and support. Worked closely with Sales and Marketing; spoke at SIMPLAN User Group meetings.

Programmer/Analyst

 

Company profile: contract programming and professional services; data processing service center

 

Upon graduation, requested by CMC to interview for an advertised opening and subsequently received choice of 2 positions at CMC: a non-programming position which was advertised and an unadvertised entry-level programming position.  The latter was offered as a result of my performance on a data processing aptitude test.  Based on an on-campus visit earlier in the semester where I spent some time with CMC’s president, CMC subsequently requested that I interview for the advertised opening at the end of the semester.

 

Assignments at CMC were end-to-end custom contract programming assignments for external clients as well as working on internal software being used by the company. Involved design, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, and training.  External clients included ITT, Liggett Group, GTE, and Northern Telecom.
